It’s normal to have questions about a window installation project, especially if it’s your first time, and you have no idea what to expect. Generally speaking, the process is similar to almost any other home improvement project you may already have had done in the past. The one notable difference is, depending on the size and scope of your window replacement, the whole work rarely takes more than a few days.
Here’s what happens during a typical window installation project.
Unlike a roof or siding replacement job, whole-home window installations are very invasive. The contractors will generally require access to all your windows and, by extension, all the rooms in your house. It may be necessary to take a day off your own work to be present while the installers are in your home. However, if you do decide to stay, make sure to give the workers enough space so you don’t cause any delay in your own project.
What to Expect
Note any special requests you have for the foreman, and write them down. When the team arrives, you can do a walkthrough of the entire job site and discuss any reminders you may have with them. Try not to get in their way while they are working, but stay within shouting distance in case they may have questions for you. The whole process is fairly straightforward: they remove the old windows, clean up the work area, install the replacements and tidy up when finished.
